Interfacial tension of the metal may be tuned dramatically, rapidly, and reversibly in response to small changes in potential, as shown using multistep chronoamperometry of a sessile EGaIn drop in 1 M NaOH. Increasing the electrochemical potential results in a corresponding decrease of the interfacial tension, consistent with the values in Fig. 1C.
