Early negative old/new differences for evident only for the Passive condition in the Remote Context, suggesting that binding between the face and context occurred at this time. On the other hand, late positivity effects reflected successful recognition memory for the Passive condition in Proximal Context and for the Active condition in both test contexts, suggesting that successful retrieval of the existing face-context representations occurred for these conditions.
