Table 1.

Cell compartment area and the amount of visfatin antigen per 100 µm2 surface area of HCT-116 cells in cytB-treated cells (3 and 5, g/mL) and untreated cultures. Data represent mean cell’s surface area presented in, µm2 ± SD and mean amount of immunogold visfatin-bounded particles per 100 µm2 surface area (cytosol, nucleus) in tested cells. Cytoplasm area was obtained from the subtraction of nuclear area from total cell area.

Cell surface area (µm2) Cell nucleus surface area (µm2) Cell cytosol surface area (µm2) Amount of visfatin antigen in nucleus/(µm2) Amount of visfatin antigen in cytosol/100 µm2 Total amount of visfatin antigen/100 µm2
Control MN cells 57.8± 8.1 27±2.1 30.7±10.9 1470±326 2340±523 3810±340
Cytochalasin B (3 µg/mL) BN cells 132.2±10.4* 53.9±4.2* 78.2±9.0* 810±101* 640±98* 1460±99*

MN, mono-nucleated (2n) diploid cells; BN, bi-nucleated (4n) tetraploid cells.

*P<0.05 vs control group (n=100 counted cells in five separate experiments).
