Schematic of the enzyme-based glucose-responsive nanovesicle. (A) GOx converts glucose into gluconic acid and acidifies the aqueous core of polymersome nanovesicle, leading to hydrolysis of the polymeric bilayer shell and subsequent dissociation of vesicles. (B) The chemical structure of the pH-sensitive diblock copolymer PEG-poly(Ser-Ketal), which can be hydrolyzed into water-soluble PEG-polyserine and acetone/ethanol in an acidic environment.
