Rhinanthus, a dicotyledonous plant that is parasitic on other plants. More precise tools allowing in situ localization of cell wall components have facilitated the investigation of complex interchanges between plants and their biotic environment, for example during pathogenic, parasitic and symbiotic interactions (Jackson et al., 2012; Pielach et al., 2014).
