  1. Like many other cellular proteins, PPS components are subjected to pupylation and proteasomal degradation. For simplicity, depupylation is ignored in the illustration presented.
  2. As a result of the interactions illustrated in (A), a negative feedback loop is formed that prevents uncontrolled tagging and degradation of cellular proteins.
