Effects of sigD and sigE mutations on expression from the Ω4499 promoter. Developmental β-galactosidase activity was determined for the wild-type Ω4499 promoter region from −218 to +50 bp fused to lacZ and integrated into the chromosome of M. xanthus sigD (⧫), sigE (▴), or wild-type DK1622 (▪) strains.
