Monovalent cations modulate the catalytic activity of DmlA. The activity of DmlA on d-malate was tested in 25 mm MOPS buffer, pH 7.5, supplemented with 150 mm K⁺, NH₄⁺, or Na⁺ chloride salts. The activity of the enzyme with KCl was set as the reference.
