Breast cell lines (MCF7and T47D) and primary human breast cancer cells were live cell sorted by FACS. Cells were sorted by ESA +/−, then CD44+/−, then CD24 lo/high to gain CD44+/24lo/ESA+ (Stem-like cells) and CD44-/24hi/ESA- (Non stem-like cells). These populations were sorted according to cell cycle (Heoest DNA profile) into G0/1 and S/G2/M, and for comparison the whole cell population (all).
