Figure 5

Effect of CAPs exposure with and without O 3 on rate of left ventricle contractility and relaxation. Assessment of contractility (dP/dt max - upper panel) and lusitropy (dP/dt min - lower panel) were carried out at baseline 24 hrs after exposure - prior to ischemia. Exposure to FCAPs alone significantly decreased dP/dt max and dP/dt min at baseline when compared to FA, however there was no effect with O3 co-exposure (FCAPs/O3). In contrast, UFCAPs alone had no effect; but, O3 co-exposure with UFCAPs (UFCAPs/O3) caused both dP/dt max and dP/dt min to significantly decrease when compared to FA. Values are means ± SEM (n = 5-8 in each group). *Significantly different from FA; p < 0.05.
