A high correlation was observed between ultrashort-TE (UTE)-measured free water loss and gravimetric water loss during sequential air drying (A), as well as between UTE-measured bound water loss and gravimetric water loss during oven drying (B). UTE water loss is lower, probably because residual surface water only contributes to gravimetric water loss. UTE-assessed bound water loss is consistently lower than gravimetric bound water loss.
