Three-dimensional (3D) long-T2 saturation ultrashort-TE (sUTE) imaging of tibia of a healthy young volunteer in the coronal plane with an acquired voxel size of 0.9 × 0.9 × 0.9 mm3 in a total scan time of 18.7 min. This shows high signal from both cortical bone (arrowheads) and bone marrow fat (arrows) with excellent suppression of muscle signal (top row). The combination of a long-T2 saturation pulse with dual echo acquisition and echo subtraction (3D sdUTE) reduces the signal from marrow fat further and enhances bone contrast (bottom row). From ref.
