Methods Methods of randomisation and allocation concealment were not described
Participants 20 patients scheduled to undergo elective CABG surgery were randomised in double-blind fashion to one of two groups
  1. Desmopressin (DDAVP) group: n = 10; M/F = 8/2; mean age (+/−SD) = 61.7 (8.1) years.

  2. Placebo group: n = 9; M/F = 6/3; mean age (+/−SD) = 62.5 (6.9) years.

Interventions
  1. DDAVP group received 0.3 ug/kg intravenously (IV) over a 10 minute period following heparin reversal post-cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).

  2. Placebo group received normal saline IV following heparin reversal post-CPB.

NB: Both groups were exposed to cell salvage.
