Nasal airflow signals (upper traces in A and B) and integrated submental electromyogram (SM-EMG) (lower traces in A and B) obtained from a normal subject during SWS of 100 mL of water. The 3rd and 4th traces were obtained from the first two traces using the window technique with a 10-second sweep time. Interruption of the nasal airflow signal that was consistent with the deglutitive apnea was covered during SWS. Swallowing apnea began at inspiration and ended at expiration during SWS[60].
