OVA-specific CD4 T cells reduce the frequency of peritoneal cells carrying the viral genome. DO.11.10 mice were infected with either γHV68.OVA or γHV68.LacZ for either 16 (A and C) or 42 (B) days. Peritoneal cells were harvested and subjected to limiting-dilution PCR assays. For panel C, DO.11.10 mice were treated with anti-CD4 or isotype control antibodies prior to infection with γHV68.OVA. Data were pooled from three independent experiments.
