A and B, BG-1 cells were treated with EtOH (Control), 10−7 M VD, leptin (100 ng/ml) or VD plus leptin for 3 days. Total and small RNAs were extracted and the expression of miR-498 (A) and hTERT (B) was determined by qRT-PCR and normalized to U6 and GAPDH levels, respectively. The values are presented as fold of the vehicle control. C, BG-1 cells were treated for 3 days with EtOH (Control), 10−7 M VD or 10−8 M ICI in the absence or presence of 100 ng/ml leptin. The levels of hTERT protein expression were determined and quantified as in Figure 1C. D, BG-1 cells were treated as in panel A but for 6 days. Cell growth was measured in MTT assays.
