Platelet-derived exosomes from human septic patients contains p22phox and gp91phox which induce endothelial cell apoptosis and dysfunction (anti-angiogenesis); whereas exosomes isolated from healthy human platelets carry with CD41 and CD62P which promote endothelial cell proliferation, migration and tube formation (pro-angiogenesis).
