Effect of fiber diameter on PHDF morphology. Representative immunofluorescence (alpha tubulin (green); DAPI (blue)) images of PHDF morphology cultured on different scaffolds at 7 Days. As fiber diameter increases, the morphology of cells becomes more elongated and cells are seen to progressively adhere to single fibers, forming long filopodal extensions. On nanofibers, cells form multiple attachment sites between fibers and take a spread, stellate morphology.
