Rabbits were infected IN with 107 CFU of Vollum spores (500 LD50). 32 h post infection blood, CSF and brain total bacterial load were determined. The brain (total CFU) and CSF (CFU/ml) of individual animal is plotted in correlation to the blood bacteremia. The maximal blood bacteremia that does not result in the appearance of bacteria in brain (red) and in CSF (green) is marked with a vertical line.
