Aspiration experiments on spheroplasts poisoned by CCCP. The spheroplast membrane was stretched by increasing tension (diamonds). Then the tension was reduced to the initial near zero value (crosses). Unlike normal spheroplasts, the membrane area did not recover the initial values. Two examples were shown with the phase contrast images of the poisoned spheroplasts.
