Table 1. Probabilities that an individual from the hybrid population at generation g has one of nine possible sets of parents from S1, S2, or H, assuming random mating.

Case Female parent’s population Male parent’s population Probability
1 S1 S1 s1,g1fs1,g1m
2 S1 H s1,g1fhg1m
3 S1 S2 s1,g1fs2,g1m
4 H S1 hg1fs1,g1m
5 H H hg1fsg1m
6 H S2 hg1fs2,g1m
7 S2 S1 s2,g1fs1,g1m
8 S2 H s2,g1fhg1m
9 S2 S2 s2,g1fs2,g1m

The parameter sα,gδ is the probability that the parent of sex δ for a randomly chosen individual from the hybrid population, at generation g, is from the source population α. Similarly, the probability that this parent is from H is hgδ.
