The diversification barrier α decreases in tolerant ecosystems and with increasing easiness of diversification P_div. The numbers indicate the phase diagram zones explored by the model “countries” whose scatter plot of performance versus diversification are reported in Fig. 3. As green zone are populated by high diversification barrier “countries”, while purple zone by the lower barrier “countries”.
