The data for Fe₅Sn₃ crystals (a), which grow as needles, has been corrected for demagnetization effects. The Fe₃Sn₂ crystals grow as hexagonal plates, and these data (b) have not been corrected for demagnetization. For Fe₃Sn₂, at least half of the difference in magnetization at low fields between H//a and H//c is due to the shape of the crystal.
