Histological analysis of pericardium samples from an in vivo subcutaneous model. Cellular response to implanted samples was analyzed using Masson's trichrome stain. Blue regions indicate collagen; pink indicates cell bodies. Staining shows local cell populations relative to implanted tissue. Untreated pericardium displays dense cellular regions, suggesting an acute inflammatory response. PPF reinforced and GA-treated tissue does not display such a response. Scale bars represent 100 μm.
