When the visual system experiences a dynamic stimulus, its spatio-temporal properties are analyzed to confirm their consistency with basic constraints such as biological form, the influence of gravity, and the causal relationship between intrinsic limb movements and extrinsic body movements. These processes are relatively low-level and likely automatic or reflexive [22]. If the stimulus satisfies these constraints, it is perceived as animate and may pass on to higher-level analysis to evaluate its social significance.
