Both the blood and peritoneal lavage were harvested 24 h after the CLP surgery. After serial dilutions, the samples were incubated on agar plates at 37°C for 14–16 hours. Bacterial colony forming units (CFU) were counted. Each data point represents the CFU from one mouse and was plotted in a Log10 scale. Horizontal bars indicate the mean value of the CFU in each mouse group and t-test was applied for statistical difference analysis. *** P<0.001, Detailed P value: P=0.0001 in both blood and lavage CFU comparison between groups. n = 9.
