Rh measured for wild type and PRO p53(1–93) are indicated in the figure. The curved line was calculated using equations 13 with N = 93. ∂Rh/∂fPPII for a statistical coil was estimated empirically by calculating the change in Rh and fPPII for the incremental change in SPPII of 0 to 0.01. ∂Rh/∂fPPII for wild type was estimated by a similar method. First, the wild type Rh (32.8 Å) was used to calculate a corresponding SPPII (SPPII,wt) using equations 1 and 2. Then ∂Rh/∂fPPII for the wild type was estimated by calculating the change in Rh and fPPII for the incremental change in SPPII from SPPII,wt to SPPII,wt + 0.01.
