Effects of LPC on Ca²⁺-induced mitochondrial swelling. Mitochondria (0.7 mg protein/mL) were incubated with 5 mM glutamate and 5 mM malate respiratory substrates and LPC at 0 (filled circles), 40 (open circles), or 80 (filled triangles) or with SDS (X) in the absence (A) or presence (B) of 2 μM CsA for 2 min prior to the addition of 220 μM CaCl₂. Kinetics of mitochondrial swelling was determined based on changes in absorbance very 2.5 min. Data represent mean ± standard deviations from 3 separate determinations.
