AP-1 is a key factor in the amitriptyline-induced expression of Cx43 in cultured cortical astrocytes. Effect of AP-1 inhibitors (curcumin and tanshinone IIA) on the amitriptyline-induced expression of Cx43 mRNA (A) and Cx43 protein (B). After treatment with either curcumin (15 μM) or tanshinone IIA (3 μM) for 30 min, cells were stimulated with 25 μM amitriptyline for 48 h.
