Vaccination reduces type I interferon 5 days after Cal04 challenge and is associated with a reduction in subclinical fever observations. (A) Activity of the interferon cluster relative to baseline (day −7 and day 0 average) for each animal was quantified using the molecular distance to health (MDTH) metric at each time point. An unpaired t test with Welch's correction was used to determine the significance of the observed differences. The actual P values are presented for relevant comparisons. n.s., nonsignificant. (B) Positive correlation between MDTH and the number of observed fever hours for each animal at day 5 postchallenge.
