Phylogenetic tree of vSkp1 homologs coded by chloroviruses. A maximum-likelihood reconstruction method was based on an alignment of chlorovirus-encoded vSkp1 genes native to 40 chloroviruses that infect three algal hosts. Sequences were aligned with MUSCLE (version 3.7) configured with default settings. The following parameters were enforced: the minimum number of sequences for a flank position was 85%; all segments with contiguous nonconserved positions bigger than 8 were rejected; the minimum block length was 10; no gaps were allowed in the final alignment. The phylogenetic tree was computed using the WAG substitution model. We show only bootstrap values of <90%. Branches with bootstrap support of less than 50 were collapsed.
