The amino acid sequence of HIV-2MJC97 (MJC97wt; R8) are represented in black; the mutated amino acids present in MJC97mt7 (R5X4; panel A) and MJC97mt7′ (R5; panel B) are represented in red. Amino acids are denoted by single-letter code. The underlined amino acids represent potential glycosylation sites linked to asparagine (N) as defined using the LANL N-glycosite program (http://www.hiv.lanl.gov/content/sequence/GLYCOSITE/glycosite.html). Amino acids residues were numbered according to HIV-2MJC97 sequence (GenBank accession number: EU021092). This schematic representation was based on previous data regarding epitope and cysteine loops mapping [58,59].
