COX-2-dependent PGE₂ release is amplified in A549–PMN co-cultures. Neutrophils (PMN, 7.5 × 10⁶/ml) and A549 cells were cultured separately and stimulated with LPS [0.1 µg/ml], or both cell types were kept in co-cultures and activated with LPS. Co-cultures were performed in the absence (A549 + PMN) or presence (A549 + PMN + NS398) of the COX-2 inhibitor NS398 (10 µM).
