Active vaccination reduced the number of transgenic rats developing extensive neurofibrillary pathology. Immunostaining with AT8, pT212 and pS214 shows low numbers of neurofibrillary tangles in the brainstem of treated transgenic rats (A), (D) and (G) compared with untreated transgenic rats (B), (E) and (H).
