Tell me what you know about Title IX.

What does gender equity means to you?

Have you been involved with any initiatives to promote gender equity at your site? If so, what was it and how did you promote gender equity?

What do you do when a student comes to you and/or when you observe students treating one another with discrimination of gender and/or race?
What have you put in place to emphasize and maintain gender equity in your classroom? Describe how that would look like.

Whom do you call on more frequently in your classroom?

What kinds of duties/tasks do you have your students complete? Who do you assign the tasks to?

What activities or strategies do you implement to promote equity in your classroom?

What do you do when a student comes to you and/or when you observe students treating one another unfairly?

Describe your interaction with your students/colleagues in your classroom.

Describe how you would react or intervene when you observe students in your classroom treating one another with biases/stereotypes of gender and race?

What do you find most difficult when teaching boys? Girls? Asians? Cambodians? Hispanics? African Americans? Whites?
What does it mean to you to be a Cambodian boy? A Cambodian girl? How did you learn that? Who told you? Is there any difference when compared to the “American” culture?

In your opinion, do you think boys are treated differently than girls?

Tell me a time when you saw that boys and girls were treated differently. How common is this? How often do you see this? Does it occur more with the same gender teacher or different gender teacher?

Have someone treated you differently because you are a boy/girl? Where does it happen? How would you address unfair treatment if seen in the unsupervised areas?

Have someone treated you differently because you are Cambodian? Where does it happen? How would you address unfair treatment if seen in the unsupervised areas?

Who do you turn to when you feel you have been treated unfairly? Do you know what programs are there at the school? Have you used them? Are they effective in your opinion?
