Comparison between domestic cats and wildcats identifying genes within putative regions of selection in the domestic cat genome that are associated with pathways related to synaptic circuitry and contextual clues related to reward. We identified 130 regions along cat autosomes with either pooled domestic Z(Hp) < −4 or Z(FST) > 4, and 5 annotated regions met both criteria. A total of 12 genes was found within these regions, many of which are implicated in neural processes; for instance, genes within regions along chromosomes A1 and D3 are highlighted.
