Free IAA was measured in three consecutive stem segments (pmol g−1 FW). The mean values ± SE of three independent biological samples (one sample is a pool of four to six individual stem segments) are displayed. Statistical analyses were performed by a paired t-test for uneven variance for each part of the stem between the two genotypes (*, < 0.05).
