Across the growth classes and thinning treatments, larger trees either showed no increase in absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (APAR) per individual tree leaf area (LA) relative to smaller trees, or an increase in APAR · LA−1. No case showed lower APAR · LA−1 for larger trees.
