Application of a spin-locking pulse in the rotating frame. Initially, longitudinal magnetization (a) is flipped into the transverse plane (b). A spin-locking pulse, which by definition is oriented along the magnetization, is immediately applied (c). After some time, the magnetization decays under the influence of the spin-locking pulse (d). The time constant of this relaxation is T.
