Rssmax and fssmax are the steady-state radius and force for an infinitely rigid substrate, respectively. In all panels we took ξs/ξsmax = Em/(Em + Ec) = 0.5 (red), 0.67 (orange), 0.83 (green), and 0.99 (blue), where Em and Ec are the respective Young’s moduli of the substrate and cell (5); see the Supporting Material for additional parameters used.
