A photomicrograph of a section from the testis of a rat of the control group showing seminiferous tubules and interstitial tissue. Each tubule was lined with stratified epithelium (spermatogenic cells) and supporting Sertoli cells. The healthy spermatogenic cells include spermatogonia (arrows), primary spermatocytes (crossed arrows), round (early) spermatid (curved arrows), elongated (late) spermatid (short arrows) and spermatozoa (asterisk). Notice the presence of: Myoid cells (zigzag arrow), Sertoli cells (arrow heads) and interstitial cells leydig (tailed arrow).
