Separation was done on a Discovery BIO Wide Pore C18 column (10×250 mm, Supelco) in a gradient of 25–40% (v/v) acetonitrile in 60 min in the presence of 0.1% (v/v) trifluoroacetic acid, at a flow rate of 2.0 ml/min. Fraction containing Vur-S49 (4) and vurtoxin (11) are indicated by horizontal bars.
