Representative images from 5 pairs of littermates are shown. B) SMC-specific PTEN deficiency promoted aortic calcification. Aorta rings from PTENf/f and PTENΔ/Δ mice were cultured in osteogenic medium containing H2O2 (0.3mM) for 2 weeks. Consecutive sections were stained by H&E, Alizarin Red (calcium), Von Kossa (calcium phosphate), and specific antibodies for pAKT and Runx2.
