C) Constitutively activated AKT promoted nuclear exclusion of FOXOX1/3 and upregulated Runx2. Wild type VSMC overexpressing constitutively active AKT (AKT) or control GFP protein (Con) were cultured in growth media. The expression of AKT, FOXO1/3 and Runx2 in cytosolic and nuclear fractions was determined by Western blot analysis. Representative blots from three independent experiments are shown.
