Expression of fabA_So and desA_So under various conditions. The fabA_So and desA_So promoters were placed in front of E. coli lacZ gene and integrated into the chromosome of the relevant strains. Their activity in a single copy in cells of mid-log phase was assayed by measuring β-galactosidase activity, presented in Miller unit. Effects of exogenous UFAs and SFAs were assessed. P_fabA and P_desA activities in ΔdesA_So and ΔfabA_So strains were compared to that in the wild-type, respectively. Experiments were conducted independently at least three times and standard deviations were presented as error bars.
