EAE was induced by subcutaneous immunization of C57BL/6 wild type (WT) and VPAC2 KO mice (n=8/group) with 100μg of MOG35-55 in CFA/Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In addition, mice received i.p. 200ng of Pertussis toxin on days 0 and 2 post-immunization. A) EAE symptoms were scored from 0 to 4 as described in Materials and Methods; B) Micrographs of spinal cords from WT and VPAC2 KO mice 30 days post-immunization stained with H&E and Luxol Fast Blue, and C) histopathological scores (see Materials and Methods). Results shown are representative of three independent experiments. *P<.05, ***P<.001 (Student's t-test).
