External organs of the removed tick, Amblyomma testudinarium. (A) The scutum shows splendid ornamentations with irregular dark brown or brownish-black spots on a pale yellow background. The eyes (white arrow) are located on the lateral edges of the scutum but not projecting beyond the scutal contour. The pedipalps (black arrow) are slender and not salient laterally.
