HPLC was used to measure serum A) Kynurenine and B) Tryptophan from Crohn's disease patients with moderate or severely active Crohn's disease. Controls, CD patients who did not carry SNPs of IDO1 (nā€Š=ā€Š20), were compared to CD patients who did carry IDO1 SNPs (nā€Š=ā€Š8). C) The Kyn/Trp ratio, a surrogate of IDO1 activity, was significantly lower in the patients with IDO1 SNPs.
