41-year-old woman diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma at 6-o’clock position. (a–d) Cross-sectional (coronal) slices from post-treatment bCT exam performed prior to surgery show the contour (red) of the tumor segmented using the developed algorithm. The slices progress from the nipple toward the chest wall. The largest tumor dimension (size) was estimated over all sagittal planes that correspond to the manner in which the surgical specimen is sectioned by pathology. Tumor size determined using the algorithm was 2.82 cm. Pathology reported tumor size of 3 cm.
