Overexpression of TrpC5 leads to increased [Ca2+]i, facilitates the translocation of β-catenin into the nucleus, and induces ABCB1 gene production. Inhibiting TrpC5 inhibits nuclear β-catenin accumulation, reduces the induction of ABCB1, and causes a remarkable reversal of 5-Fu resistance in HCT-8/5-Fu cells.
